Teams looking to get ahead of the competition have some golden opportunities coming this June 5th. Throughout the pre-season the Early Bird Challenge gives race-day points to teams that finish their vehicle well ahead of schedule for the Power Racing Series event at Maker Faire: Detroit. The first of these challenges requires teams to upload a video on Youtube or Vimeo depicting their race-trim vehicle operating under full speed. PPPRS judges will determine the speed and performance of the vehicle and award teams 100 points for fulfilling their objective.
The Early Bird Challenge aims at awarding more points throughout the pre-season for accomplishing other goals as well. However, the largest point sum will be awarded for the June 5th deadline. Subsequent deadlines will have reduced values but still allow a chance for slower teams to earn points. Requirements for the video are simple, yet specific. Teams will be asked to identify their vehicle, car number and driver and then mark straight feet for their Power Wheel to race upon and document the results. Videos have to be marked for June 5th 2010. A link will be submitted to the Official PPPRS mailing list and judges will have results for the following Monday.
Jim Burke, Head of the PPPRS, emphasizes the immense benefit this can have for a team on race day “Early Bird victories are equivalent to winning a race at Maker Faire. That’s an entire race your competitor didn’t show up for. “ PPPRS aims to not only reward teams for completing their ambitious project vehicles, but also teams that “are creative and timely”
Teams have until 11:59pm on June 5th, 2010 to qualify for their bonus points. Any questions or information should be sent to Jim .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
